ADMISSION & REGISTRATION

Escondido Bible College admits Christians who indicate a serious interest in becoming better equipped to represent Christ wherever they may be led to live and work. We are interested in the character and spiritual maturity of applicants as well as their academic background. Since EBC is a Christian institution established for the purpose of training men and women for Christian witness, ministry and church leadership, our holistic approach is consistent with our purpose.

(1) SPIRITUAL - EBC expects applicants to have evident Christian faith. Initial evidence will be indicated through personal and pastoral references processed during the application process. If accepted for admission, based on references and interviews, a consistent Christian lifestyle is required throughout their student career. The college is doctrinally Pentecostal, and while we desire that students shall have received (or are seeking) the Baptism with the Holy Spirit, applicants from other denominations have always been welcome, and as students have been enriched by their EBC experience. We value their continuing alumni support.

(2) ACADEMIC - Applicants should have sufficient educational background to enable them to perform at the college level. An official high school transcript documenting graduation, a posted Associate of Arts Degree, or proof of high school equivalence is required for admission into the Bachelor of Theology or Associate in Biblical Studies Degree programs. Applicants without these documents may be accepted into the Ministry Certificate program which, in itself, constitutes the first year of the Associate in Biblical Studies or Bachelor of Theology Degree programs. Once high school equivalency documentation is obtained, the student may proceed toward completion of either or both of the degree programs. English Composition proficiency is required for all programs.

STATEMENT OF NON DISCRIMINATION

In compliance with federal and state regulations, Escondido Bible College admits students of any race, gender, color, national and ethnic origin, disability, status as a veteran, or any other characteristic protected by law to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities offered to students at the college.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

An application for admission may be obtained by contacting the Admissions Office.

Escondido Bible College
927 Idaho Avenue
Escondido, CA 92025
(760) 745-9826 or (760) 745-0505

The application procedure requires the following four (4) items:

1. Application, which includes a space for the Christian testimony of the applicant.
2. Personal References (2)
3. Pastoral Reference
4. Transcript Request Forms

Once these papers are processed by the Office of the Academic Dean, the student will be contacted. If a letter of denial is sent, reasons for non acceptance will be stated.

TRANSFER OF CREDIT POLICIES

EBC welcomes those students who are continuing in their education and who may have already accomplished some academic work at other institutions.

Credit for completed courses at other institutions may be possible on a course-for-course basis where the course descriptions are comparable and the grade is "C" or better. Any transfer of credit would require documentation on an official transcript from a recognized institution which may not necessarily be accredited. Official Transcripts must be sent directly to the EBC Admissions Office by the previously attended institution.

A provisional evaluation is made with the actual transfer of credit held until the student has completed 30 units in the resident program with a GPA of 2.00 or above.

Students having earned an undergraduate degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a discipline other than Bible or Theology may be able to apply completed general education courses toward Bachelor of Theology Degree requirements. (See Academic Programs).

REGISTRATION FOR CONTINUING STUDENTS

All continuing students are expected to register according to the schedule established prior to each academic quarter. This maximizes administrative efficiency by assuring preferred instructor/student ratios, and helps assure that students will have appropriate course textbooks and materials. Late registration fees are assessed when students enroll after registration deadlines.

AUDITING CLASSES

Audit status is available for individuals who desire to be exposed to course material, but who do not wish to fulfill course requirements leading to credit toward a ministry certificate or degree program. Auditors are not required to take exams, write term papers, or satisfy other class requirements. Generally, they are not expected to participate in class projects or discussions and are not expected to receive inordinate instructor attention. Auditing is most appropriate for students who have a nominal interest in a subject, or for church congregants who want to supplement their personal Bible Studies. For this reason audit tuition is less than tuition for credit. Those audit students who do attend eighty percent of the course being audited will receive a completion certificate from the college. The certificate will have no value toward college credit, but will give evidence that the student has had some systematic exposure to the course material.

RE-ADMISSION

A student who has not attended Escondido Bible College for over two years must apply for re-admission according to the process for new applicants.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION

College tuition and fees should be considered carefully. Escondido Bible College purposely keeps these costs relatively low and expects students to balance these costs with their other financial obligations in accordance with Biblical stewardship principles. EBC must depend on mature fiscal responsibility of its students regarding timely payment of their educational expenses.

Tuition Payments

All students are expected to pay their tuition and fees in entirety at the time of registration. However, students unable to pay the full amount may ask to be considered for the deferred tuition payment plan. Payment of tuition by installments may be made in three (3) equal payments during the academic quarter. The first payment is due before the quarter begins. Balances must be paid in full before registering for another academic quarter.

Evening Classes

The evening class schedule begins at 3:00 p.m. and continues until 9:30 p.m. Class start times are 3:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. We currently do not offer morning and early afternoon classes.

Summer Sessions

The length of the summer sessions are six weeks, rather than the standard twelve week durations of fall, winter, and spring quarters. Classes meet once per week for each course, as they do during other quarters. However, since the summer session is shorter, the classes must be longer. Many students enjoy the intensity of the shorter summer sessions. Attending summer classes is an effective way to accelerate completion of an academic program while still allowing time for summer vacation.
